I recently returned from the 2nd Alaskan sailing of the new Norwegian Bliss! I was able to treat my mom to this once in a lifetime trip for her 59th birthday! We had an incredible time and the ship was outstanding. This was my 6th cruise and 3rd with Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL).
Bliss- Cruise Ship Review
We stayed in a Balcony room on deck 14. The best thing was that everything was extremely clean and new! The bathroom had a glass shower which was small but much better than some of the other ships I have been on. It also had several shelfs, cabinets, hooks, etc. My mom and I may be classified as over packers but we had room to leave all of our toiletries and make up items in the bathroom.
A queen bed consists of two twin beds which we kept separated to give us each some space. Our closet had enough hangers for both of us for a 7 day cruise, shelving, and a safe which we used without incident. There were hooks on the wall by the door which we utilized for our lanyards.
The TV was small but new and turned towards the beds or couch. We both had overhead lamps & reading lamps on our sides of the beds. The couch had additional bedding underneath and was big enough for both of us to sit on at the same time. There were several cabinets and shelfs on the “bar area” where the mini bar/ice/etc. were kept.
Our room had a large mirror over the bar area, a full length mirror outside the bathroom, and a large mirror in the bathroom. The balcony was “normal” balcony size and had two chairs a small table. The blackout curtains were pheonomal.
I can’t say enough good things about our dining experiences. We ate at Cagneys, Le Bistro, La Cucina, Ocean Blue, Teppanyaki, Jimmy Buffet’s Margartiaville at Sea, Los Lobos, and more for our dinners and each experience was fantastic. Once we tried the breakfast in the main dining room and lunch also. We also ate several times at the Local. I can’t share any info on the buffets as we did not eat at the buffets. We luckily had an all inclusive drink packages so we were able to get sodas, cocktails, wine, etc. in all of the restaurants.
We saw Havana, Jersey Boys, and Phrobition the musical for the shows available onboard. We also saw several of the Beatles tribute band performances (each set was different). The entertainment was top notch and both my mom and I are “broadway snobs”. This was one of our favorite activities on the ship.
We also partook in the casino- which this ship has two casinos! A smoking and a non smoking casino, which was a much better experience than normal. The games such as Bingo or Deal or No Deal were similar to all other cruises I have been on but the cruise director on NCL Bliss was awesome!
We did buy the spa package and I would certainly purchase this again as we spent a lot of time in the spa and enjoyed all the benefits of the package. I most enjoyed using the Sauna’s as I have one at home and am a firm believer in Sauna benefits Sauna Benefits . I also had my hair styled with a blow out while on the ship.
The ship is new and grand and has all the bells and whistles. Some staff were also brand new and that resulted in some minor kinks that will surely get worked out over time. We had an excellent vacation and would for sure sail on Norwegian Bliss again or with NCL.
